Chris Paul Trade Drama
As NBA followers and Brittan being a huge Hornets fan, the news of David Stern's veto of the CP3 trade to the Lakers angers us. First off, for the past 5 years the NBA has become a joke. How can you ever possibly think that there would be no back lash for the actions and consequences of cancelling this trade? CP3 does not want to play in NOLA anymore and who can blame him? If we were professional athletes we most likely would chase money and want to win in big markets too. After studying the trade for all three teams involved, it seems as though the only franchise coming up on the short end would be the Houston Rockets. I'm sure Houston is in a win now mentality but we just dont see Pau Gasol fixing all their problems to be able to compete at this time. The Lakers would be shedding tons of money in getting rid of the contracts of Gasol and Odom, plus gaining the best pure PG in the league. The Hornets would gain at least three starters and a playoff proven back up PG, plus a first round pick from Houston that im sure recently proven GM Dell Demps could use accordingly. Now what happens? The Lakers have two big name players who feel as though they arent wanted in LA and dont show up for camp on Friday. The Rockets have four players who feel like garbage after Houston attempted to trade them; and then you have Chris Paul who showed up for camp but is confused about this whole situation and doesnt know where he will be living in the near future. David Stern made a horrible mistake and we think he knows that. There is nothing to be done about superstars teaming up together in big markets with the way the league is currently structured. Eventually superstars will be free agents and go where they feel they will win anyway. The future of the NBA seems to show four to five dominant teams and the small market teams quickly losing fan interest...and money. In our opinion David Stern should be replaced as soon as possible with someone who understands the day in and day out of basketball success.
